Taking precautions: Coronavirus

To all of our dear patients and their families:

April 6th, 2020

As Coronavirus (COVID-19) is in the news everywhere, and we continue to monitor the situation closely and follow the CDC guidelines for spread prevention, now more than ever, our number one priority is the safety of our patients, our staff and their families.

In light of this situation, The American Dental Association (ADA) states the following:

"The ADA recognizes the unprecedented and extraordinary circumstances dentists and their patients face. Our guiding principles are to mitigate transmission while also supporting emergency care for patients so as to help prevent overwhelming hospital emergency departments over the next few weeks. Under these circumstances, while some services will continue to be performed in dental offices, the ADA recognizes that patients would be best served when telecommunication technology can be leveraged to support dental care. Teledentistry refers to the use of telehealth systems and methodologies in dentistry. Teledentistry can include patient care delivery using, but not limited to, the following modalities:

  • Live video (synchronous): Live, two-way interaction between a person (patient, caregiver, or provider) and a provider using audiovisual telecommunications technology.
  • Store-and-forward (asynchronous): Transmission of recorded health information (for example, radiographs, photographs, video, digital impressions and photomicrographs of patients) through a
secure electronic communications system to a practitioner, who uses the information to evaluate a patient’s condition or render a service outside of a real-time or live interaction.
  • Remote patient monitoring (RPM): Personal health and medical data collection from an individual in one location via electronic communication technologies, which is transmitted to a provider (sometimes via a data processing service) in a different location for use in care and related support of care.
  • Mobile health (mHealth): Health care and public health practice and education supported by mobile communication devices such as cell phones, tablet computers, and personal digital assistants (PDA)."

In the case you experience a dental emergency (pain, swelling, abscess) we’d like to remind you that we are here to help. Count on us to alleviate, and get you out of pain as fast as possible! Our facility is utilizing different methods to triage patients:

  • Teledentistry {Virtual Consult} Availability: 10:00AM-12:00PM and 2:00 PM-5:00 PM
  • Communicating via phone, text, email
  • Lastly, after being evaluated by one of our doctors, scheduling in office treatment.

At the recommendation of CDC, we will be taking patients’ temperatures and asking the following screening questions prior to allowing them to enter the reception area. Notably, all patients need to consider these questions prior to going to the physician office:

  • Have you traveled to a COVID-19 affected geographic area within 14 days of symptom onset? (China, Iran, S. Korea, Europe, cruise ship or any high risk sites in U.S.)
  • Have you had close contact with a person who traveled to high risk sites or has COVID-19?
  • Do you have fever and respiratory symptoms such as cough or shortness of breath?
  • Do you have loss of taste or smell?

Once an appointment has been scheduled you will receive an automated text message the day of your appointment stating the following: “Hello, In effort to help keep you and our office staff safe we kindly ask that you please text us once you have arrived to our facility. Please wait in your parked car until we are ready to see you”. Follow up calls will be placed by treating doctors after treatment is rendered; the same day if not the following morning.

Once again, we’d like to express our concern for your health during this crucial time. Thank you for your continued trust and loyalty as we work together to fight this virus.

Please remain safe, and follow all the necessary protocols advised.
Sincerely,

Your One Dental Studio Family
