Dental Implants

A dental implant is a titanium post that functions as the root of a tooth would. It is surgically implanted into your jawbone beneath the gum line so that a replacement tooth can be screwed on top. Dental implants are designed to be used as replacements for a single tooth or even a full set of teeth.

Bone Grafting

Periodontal disease can cause the jawbone to become too weak to support a dental implant. In cases like this, our team recommends bone grafting to promote healthy bone growth and to thicken your jawbone. Over time, your jawbone will naturally regenerate and become strong enough to support other necessary dental work, like a dental implant.

Sinus Lift

If you're getting dental implants in your upper jaw, you may need a sinus lift surgical procedure first. During this procedure, our dental team will add new bone between your jaw and maxillary sinuses. In order to make room for this bone, your sinus membrane is moved upward. A successful sinus lift will help create healthy bone mass to support dental implants.

Tooth Extractions

When a tooth is too badly decayed to save, our doctors may decide to perform an extraction. An extraction may also be recommended if the tooth is severely fractured or is crowding other healthy teeth. If you are facing an extraction, our team will discuss and offer tooth replacement options, such as dentures or dental implants.

Wisdom Teeth Removal

Not all wisdom teeth need to be extracted, but if your wisdom teeth are impacted and are crowding your teeth, or if gum disease is present, you may be a candidate for wisdom tooth surgery. In many situations, it’s best to pull the wisdom teeth before they jeopardize your smile as a whole. At the earliest, wisdom teeth are removed in the mid-teen years, but third molars do not finish developing until closer to about 30 years of age so the timing for this procedure varies.

We will take a panoramic radiograph of your entire jaw, so we can see the size, location, and developmental trajectory of the wisdom teeth in consideration and determine if removal is necessary.

At One Dental Studio, we perform all levels of wisdom tooth procedures, from routine extractions to complex, impacted extractions.

An alveoplasty surgery is performed when a patient's jawbone needs to be smoothed or reshaped following the loss or extraction of one or more teeth. Alveoplasty can either be performed on its own, or as part of a tooth extraction. This surgery optimally shapes your jaws to support dentures, minimizing your future discomfort and maximizing prosthesis retainment.

Tori Removal

A tori, or torus mandibularis, is a bony growth that occurs in both the upper and lower jaw. Nine out of ten times they will occur on both sides of the mouth. Surgical removal can often be necessary for patient comfort, especially if the patient wears a dental appliance. Once these growths are removed, they will not return. One Dental Studio is proud to offer Tori removal to our patients. Call our Davie office today to see if you are a good candidate!

“Tongue Tie” is a condition where the tissue on the underside of the tongue that connects to the floor of their mouth is too short, limiting the tongue’s range of motion. In adults, it can cause discomfort and problems with speech. Treatment for this condition is relatively simple, and early intervention is key!
